Description
The 10/83 is effectively the dual version of the 10/82 - also with a jack socket, but with two pickups. Like the 10/82 it is also designed for internal installation. According to the instrument, the pickups can be mounted in the best possible locations, which allows a perfect pick-up of the lows and at the same time an optimal reproduction of the high frequencies, e.g. on the inside at the bridge and on the side or the bottom of the instrument - depending on how much bass and treble you want.
Schaller’s patented Oyster pickups offer a natural and powerful reproduction of the instrument sound without active circuits or preamps. The excellent sound result is achieved by a perfect interaction of diaphragm, piezo element and plastic contact gel. All Oyster models are fixed with a dual-sided adhesive foil or alternatively with a removable glueing pad that won't damage the instrument's top.
For guitars with a very good resonance we recommend the thin glueing platelets. The use of the silicon rubber is ideal if very high volume levels are to be achieved. Proceed as follows: cut off about 2cm of bonding mass, pull off the protective foil and with the underside of the pickup press a round lump of glue onto the guitar. Done!
I like the sound of this pickup in my old 70's era Aria acoustic. The only negative I'd say is that it came with no instructions at all and the adhesive sticker that was already on the transducers is not made for internal dry wood surface, so is quite pointless and a pain to remove. I used Tarzans Grip glue for mounting inside after testing it with a 20c coin on plywood.
