Schimmel Model 174 “Empire” in Mahogany High Gloss

This spectacular instrument was crafted at the renowned Schimmel factory in Braunschweig, Germany, in 1985. To realise its full musical potential, we commissioned Nigel Leach of ACT Piano Service to undertake a comprehensive rebuild using only premium-quality components.

Rebuild highlights include:

  • Hand-wound copper bass strings by Parke Piano Strings
  • Röslau Blue Label piano wire throughout the treble section
  • New tuning pins for exceptional tuning stability and longevity
  • New Abel natural felt hammers with mahogany mouldings
  • Complete action overhaul, including new leather rollers and keyframe felts
  • Detailed regulation, voicing, and refinement throughout

Presented in immaculate condition, this Schimmel offers the touch, tone and tuning stability of a much newer instrument while retaining the character and craftsmanship of a fine German piano.
