Epiphone SG Special P90 - Cherry

The SG™ Special returns to the classic design that made it relevant, played, and loved – shaping sound across generations and genres of music. Introduced in the early 1960s, the Gibson SG Special was conceived as a model that would sit between the entry-level SG Junior and the SG Standard, combining some of the stripped-down, budget-friendly attributes of the Junior with a bit more of the versatility and upgraded aesthetics associated with the now-iconic SG Standard.

Despite its more pared-down approach, it quickly became associated with some of rock’s most memorable riffs and performances. This early 60s style SG Special from Epiphone has the vibe and sound heard on countless classic rock recordings. The Epiphone SG Special P-90 from the updated Inspired by Gibson Collection offers fans the legendary SG solidbody electric with a double-cutaway mahogany body, along with a mahogany neck that features a fast-playing 60s SlimTaper™ profile.

The neck is capped with a bound rosewood fretboard that is equipped with 22 medium jumbo frets and adorned with pearloid dot position marker inlays. The 60s Kalamazoo headstock is outfitted with Epiphone Deluxe tuners featuring ivory buttons, a Graph Tech™ nut, and displays the Epiphone logo inlaid in mother-of-pearl. The other ends of the strings are anchored with a compensated Wraparound bridge in keeping with the vintage roots of the SG Special, while ensuring solid intonation and impressive sustain.

The SG Special P-90 comes equipped with a pair of Epiphone P-90 PRO™ Soapbar pickups, renowned for their snarly midrange punch and outstanding dynamic response. Dial back your volume for chiming cleans or crank it up for overdriven tones that can punch through the densest of mixes. Both pickups are wired to individual volume and tone controls, along with a three-way toggle switch for excellent tonal control and versatility. The SG Special P-90 comes packed in a premium gig bag to help keep it safe when traveling.
