Yamaha’s continuing research and development, using a top-down approach, has further developed one of our pivotal models – the YCL650. The new YCL650/MK3 benefits from some of the positive feedback Yamaha has received about the VR, CSGIII, and SE Artist models.

Pisoni leather pads – After using these pads in our Custom range of clarinets, Yamaha discovered that there was improved tonal quality and response, as well as greater durability.
Improved key layout and design – For ease of playing, the E/B lever has been extended by 2mm to improve the certainty of this key's actuation.
Adjustable thumb rest with strap ring – The VR series thumb rest design has been borrowed for the YCL650/MK3 clarinet, improving the overall comfort while playing the instrument.

This is all in addition to the current design, which features the wider SE-style bore, unique barrel design which promotes efficiency, and a bell design which improves the feel, tone, and response over the break.
