Gibson Songwriter Recording Artist - Antique Natural

Originally introduced in the late 1990s, the Gibson Songwriter brought a distinctive square-shoulder modern dreadnought body shape to the Gibson acoustic lineup. The Songwriter Recording Artist combines the tonal benefits of Gibson's renowned 1930s-era scalloped Advanced X-bracing, a 25.5" scale length, and a tonewood combination inspired by the legendary 1936 Advanced Jumbo, delivering a voice that is rich, powerful, and unmistakably Gibson.

Handcrafted in Bozeman, Montana, the Songwriter Recording Artist features a thermally aged Sitka spruce top paired with rosewood back and sides. Its 25.5" scale mahogany neck features a comfortable Round profile and is topped with a bound ebony fretboard carrying 20 standard frets and elegant mother-of-pearl diamond eye inlays. A compound dovetail neck joint, secured with hot hide glue, helps maximize stability and tonal transfer between the neck and body. The bound headstock is faced with rosewood veneer and adorned with a mother-of-pearl Gibson logo and crown inlay. Premium appointments include a bone nut, gold Grover open-back tuning machines, an ebony bridge fitted with a bone saddle and TUSQ bridge pins, and mother-of-pearl arrow inlays. A custom line tortoise pickguard protects the top, while a wide abalone rosette adds an eye-catching finishing touch.

Equally at home in the recording studio and on stage, the Songwriter Recording Artist is equipped with Gibson's exclusive, custom-voiced Baggs HiFi DNA pickup system. This active electronics package utilizes two lightweight sensors mounted to the internal bridge plate, each paired with its own optimized preamp to capture a natural, full-range amplified acoustic sound. The system faithfully conveys the guitar's unique character when plugged in while leaving its acoustic voice unaffected, and delivers gain-before-feedback performance comparable to that of an under-saddle pickup design. Convenient soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls provide quick adjustments during performance while remaining virtually invisible to the audience.

The Songwriter Recording Artist includes a Gibson hardshell case for dependable protection during travel. Blending premium craftsmanship, versatile performance, and exceptional tone, it is an outstanding option for today's acoustic musicians.
