The Gibson Parlor Rosewood EC blends a comfortable, compact body design with a rich, full acoustic voice that exceeds expectations for its size. Inspired by the iconic styling of a scaled-down SJ-200™, it delivers unmistakable Gibson acoustic aesthetics in a format that's exceptionally easy to hold and play. Its smaller dimensions make it an excellent choice for players transitioning from electric guitars, as well as those who prefer a more manageable alternative to larger dreadnought and square-shoulder acoustic models.
Built using Gibson's renowned acoustic construction methods, the Parlor Rosewood EC features a solid Sitka spruce top finished in gloss nitrocellulose lacquer, paired with solid rosewood back and sides finished in satin nitrocellulose lacquer. The rosewood body construction enhances low-end richness and overall depth, giving the guitar a surprisingly robust voice for its compact footprint. Features such as the compound dovetail neck-to-body joint, radiused top, and traditional scalloped X-bracing help shape its responsive sound. The cutaway design allows comfortable access to the upper register, making it appealing for players who enjoy exploring the full length of the fretboard.
The mahogany neck is carved to Gibson's Advanced Response profile, offering a comfortable feel that strikes a balance between slim and substantial. The bound rosewood fretboard features a player-friendly 16-inch radius, 19 standard frets, and mother-of-pearl parallelogram inlays. Premium appointments include a TUSQ® nut, saddle, and bridge pins, along with gold-plated Grover® Mini Rotomatic® tuning machines that provide dependable tuning precision and stability. A mother-of-pearl Gibson headstock logo and faux tortoise pickguard complete the guitar's timeless appearance.
The Parlor Rosewood EC is equipped with the Gibson-exclusive, custom-voiced Baggs HiFi DNA™ pickup system. This active electronics package utilizes two lightweight sensors attached to the bridge plate, paired with individually optimized preamps for natural, full-range amplified sound. The design preserves the guitar's unplugged tone while allowing its unique voice and dynamics to shine through connected amplification, with gain-before-feedback performance comparable to traditional under-saddle pickup designs. Convenient soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls provide quick adjustments during performance while remaining virtually out of sight.
The Parlor Rosewood EC is especially welcoming for electric guitarists and anyone seeking a smaller acoustic instrument. A modern hardshell case is included for secure storage and easy transport.
