Description
The LG-2 50s Original returns this beloved model to the Gibson acoustic lineup with specifications inspired by sought-after examples from the 1950s. Its construction pairs solid mahogany back and sides with a solid Sitka spruce top, supported by traditional scalloped X-bracing that produces a rich, articulate acoustic voice. The mahogany body is accented with three-ply top binding and single-ply binding on the back for a timeless appearance.
The mahogany neck features a rounded profile and is joined to the body using a compound dovetail neck joint assembled with hot hide glue. An unbound rosewood fretboard is fitted with 20 standard frets and decorated with understated mother-of-pearl dot inlays. A bone nut and saddle contribute to responsive feel and tonal transfer, while TUSQ® bridge pins provide secure string anchoring. Grover® strap tuners with cream buttons offer dependable tuning stability and complement the vintage-inspired aesthetics, alongside its tortoise teardrop pickguard.
The solid Sitka spruce top delivers a brighter, more resonant, and evenly balanced tonal response well suited for a wide variety of musical styles. Its smaller body dimensions make it particularly comfortable for players who prefer a more manageable instrument than a larger-bodied acoustic. Its distinct voice makes it a valuable option in the studio, providing tonal variety when layered alongside larger acoustic guitars on recordings.
The Baggs HiFi DNA pickup system utilizes a pair of lightweight sensors mounted to the internal bridge plate, each paired with optimized preamps for exceptional amplified performance. It delivers a full, natural acoustic sound while accurately preserving the instrument's unique character without affecting its unplugged tone. Convenient soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls provide quick adjustments during performance. A Gibson hardshell case is included for secure protection at home and on the road.
