Description

 The J-45™ stands as Gibson's most popular acoustic guitar and one of the most recognizable models in the brand's history. First introduced in 1942 and affectionately known as "The Workhorse," it remains the benchmark for Gibson's round-shoulder dreadnought acoustics. The J-45 Standard Rosewood delivers the signature playability and balanced sound players expect while adding the richer low-end response and enhanced harmonic depth that rosewood back and sides provide.

Built with a solid Sitka spruce top and solid rosewood back and sides, this model pairs classic construction with refined tonal versatility. Scalloped X-bracing maximizes resonance and responsiveness, while multi-ply top binding and single-ply back binding provide traditional visual appointments. A gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish highlights the beauty of the darker tonewoods and gives the instrument a distinctive appearance.

The mahogany neck is shaped with Gibson's comfortable SlimTaper™ profile for an effortless playing experience and is joined to the body with a compound dovetail neck joint secured using hot hide glue. An Indian rosewood fretboard features a 12-inch radius, 20 standard frets, and mother-of-pearl dot inlays. The headstock is adorned with a mother-of-pearl Gibson logo and fitted with gold Grover® Rotomatic® tuning machines. A TUSQ® nut and rosewood reverse-belly bridge with TUSQ saddle and bridge pins contribute to outstanding tuning stability and tonal transfer. A traditional tortoiseshell teardrop pickguard completes the classic look.

The Gibson-exclusive Baggs HiFi DNA™ pickup system features two lightweight sensors on the internal bridge plate, each paired with an optimized preamp for natural, full-range amplified sound. The system captures the guitar's unique personality without affecting its unplugged tone and delivers gain-before-feedback performance comparable to an under-saddle pickup. Soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls provide convenient on-the-fly adjustments.

Equally at home on stage, in the studio, or wherever inspiration strikes, the J-45 Standard Rosewood combines the familiar feel and versatility that earned the J-45 its "Workhorse" reputation with the expanded tonal richness of rosewood. A Gibson hardshell case is included for premium protection and transport.
