Built with a solid Sitka spruce top and solid rosewood back and sides, the Hummingbird Standard Rosewood delivers a dynamic and resonant acoustic experience. The solid rosewood construction contributes a richer low-end response and increased harmonic complexity, creating a distinct tonal character while retaining the model's renowned balance. Scalloped X-bracing maximizes the top's responsiveness, while multi-ply body binding enhances its classic appearance. A gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish highlights the beauty of the darker tonewoods and complements the unmistakable Hummingbird design.
The mahogany neck features a comfortable Round profile and is joined to the body using a compound dovetail neck joint secured with hot hide glue. The bound Indian rosewood fretboard has a 12-inch radius, 20 standard frets, and mother-of-pearl parallelogram inlays. A TUSQ® nut and gold Grover® Rotomatic® tuners provide smooth tuning operation and reliable stability. The rosewood reverse-belly bridge is fitted with a TUSQ saddle and bridge pins, while the tortoiseshell-style pickguard showcases the instantly recognizable Hummingbird artwork. Mother-of-pearl Gibson and crown inlays adorn the headstock, preserving the timeless visual identity that has defined the Hummingbird across decades.
The Gibson-exclusive Baggs HiFi DNA™ pickup system captures the guitar's natural voice with impressive realism when amplified. This active design employs two lightweight sensors mounted to the bridge plate, paired with individually optimized preamps to produce a natural, full-bodied tone. The system faithfully conveys the guitar's unique character without affecting its unplugged sound and offers gain-before-feedback performance comparable to an under-saddle pickup. Soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls provide convenient access during performance.
