Gibson Hummingbird Standard EC - Heritage Cherry Sunburst

First introduced in 1960 as Gibson's inaugural square-shoulder acoustic, the iconic Hummingbird™ has earned its place among the most beloved acoustic guitars ever produced, finding favour with players from every era and musical style. The Hummingbird Standard EC builds on that legacy by incorporating a cutaway design that provides easier access to the upper frets and features the Gibson exclusive, custom-voiced Baggs HiFi DNA™ pickup system, faithfully capturing the instrument's distinctive tonal character and the subtleties of your performance with remarkable authenticity when amplified.

This model combines a solid Sitka spruce top with solid mahogany back and sides. Scalloped X-bracing shapes its responsive voice, while multi-ply binding accents the classic square-shoulder body design. This time-tested construction is equally at home driving rhythm parts in a rock 'n' roll setting or supporting the dynamic expression of today's singer-songwriters. A gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish completes the guitar's timeless appearance.

The cutaway opens up improved access to the higher frets, making the Hummingbird Standard EC especially appealing to lead players and anyone seeking an expanded playing range and greater expressive possibilities. Its mahogany neck features a comfortable SlimTaper™ profile and is paired with a bound rosewood fretboard with a 12-inch radius, 20 standard frets, and mother-of-pearl split parallelogram inlays. A rosewood belly-up bridge equipped with a TUSQ® saddle works in conjunction with a bone nut and Grover® Rotomatic® tuners for dependable performance. The tortoiseshell-coloured pickguard showcases the renowned Hummingbird graphics that have made this model instantly recognizable.

The Gibson-exclusive Baggs HiFi DNA pickup system utilizes two lightweight sensors mounted to the bridge plate paired with dedicated, optimized preamps. The result is a rich amplified acoustic sound that accurately reflects the instrument's natural character without affecting its unplugged voice. The system also delivers gain-before-feedback performance comparable to an under-saddle pickup. Convenient soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls are easy to reach during performance.

Blending the celebrated versatility and unmistakable style of the Hummingbird with the added benefits of a cutaway design, the Hummingbird Standard EC is equally prepared for the stage or the studio and ships in a hardshell case.
