Description
Built with a square-shoulder body, the Hummingbird Original pairs a Sitka spruce top with mahogany back and sides. Scalloped X-bracing shapes its dynamic response, while multi-ply binding accents the body. This time-honoured tonewood combination excels whether strumming open-position chords or articulating melodic lead passages. A gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish highlights the guitar's legendary silhouette and unmistakable visual appeal.
The mahogany neck is attached using a compound dovetail neck-to-body joint and carved to a comfortable Rounded profile. A rosewood fretboard with a 12-inch radius, 20 standard frets, and mother-of-pearl parallelogram inlays offers a classic playing experience. Gold Gotoh® keystone tuners, bone nut, traditional Hummingbird truss rod cover, and double antiqued binding reinforce the instrument's vintage character. A traditional belly-up rosewood bridge anchors the strings with a bone saddle and TUSQ® bridge pins. The famous Hummingbird pickguard remains one of the guitar's defining visual elements.
The Baggs HiFi DNA pickup system incorporates two lightweight sensors mounted to the internal bridge plate, paired with individually optimized preamps to produce rich, natural amplified acoustic sound. The system preserves unplugged tonal character while providing exceptional amplified performance and gain-before-feedback comparable to traditional under-saddle pickups. Discreet soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls allow quick adjustments during performance.
Ready for both stage and studio use, it ships in a hardshell case.
