Epiphone unveils a 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue with a rosewood fretboard, inspired by Gibson Custom The 1959 Gibson Les Paul™ Standard remains one of the most sought-after and valuable vintage guitars ever made, favored by legendary players like Peter Green, Kirk Hammett, and Joe Bonamassa. While similar to the 1960 model that followed, the ’59 stands apart with its slightly thicker 1959 Rounded Medium C neck profile—a feature many guitarists prefer over the slimmer SlimTaper™ profile of the 1960 Les Paul Standard.

Epiphone proudly introduces the 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue, a stunning tribute to these rare originals. Developed in collaboration with Gibson Custom, this model delivers the timeless look and feel of a vintage Les Paul and stage-ready performance. Every detail that made the 1959 Les Paul Standard iconic is here: a one-piece mahogany neck with a long neck tenon for exceptional stability and sustain, the authentic 1959 Rounded Medium C profile, and a bound rosewood fretboard. Mother-of-pearl trapezoid inlays, an aged mother-of-pearl Epiphone headstock logo, and the gold “Les Paul Model” silkscreen on the classic Gibson-style “open book” headstock add to its vintage character.

Even the side dot markers match the size and placement of the originals. The solid mahogany body is topped with a carved maple cap and a striking AAA flamed maple veneer. For electronics, it features two USA Gibson Custombucker humbuckers with Alnico 3 magnets, hand-wired to CTS® pots, Black Beauty paper-in-oil capacitors, and Switchcraft® components for the toggle switch and ¼-inch output jack. Finished in Vintage Gloss for an authentic aged look, it’s complemented by nickel hardware, including Epiphone Deluxe “Single Ring” Keystone tuners. A brown hardshell case with Inspired by Gibson Custom graphics and a pink plush interior completes the package.
