The price of acoustic drum kits in Australia can cost anywhere from around $500 to upwards of $10,000 for high end kits. The cost of a drum kit is dependent on a number of factors, such as the brand, build quality, parts used, and the cymbals included. A drum kit typically includes a kick drum, a snare drum, a hi-hat, toms (also referred to as tom-toms), and cymbals. We’ll explain each of these drum parts in further detail below:

• Kick Drum: The kick drum is the lowest-pitched drum and is usually played with a foot pedal.
• Snare: The snare is a percussion drum that creates a sharp staccato sound when hit.
• Toms: Toms are cylindrical drums that can produce various pitches when tuned.
• Hi-Hat: The hi-hat is a pair of cymbals that can be opened and closed.
• Cymbals: Cymbals are round shaped percussion instruments which are often used in pairs and make an indefinite pitch.

One of the best habits you can develop is to wipe your drum kit down after use! All you need to do this is a microfiber cleaning cloth, and make sure it’s not abrasive as you don’t want to damage the finish of your drums and cymbals. We also recommend buying drum polish to clean and protect your shells. Your drum stands can also be subject to rust and general wear-and-tear over time, so we recommend using a suitable lubricant oil to make sure everything moves smoothly. Lastly, always use drum bags or drum hard cases when transporting your gear!
