THREE LEGENDARY PIANOS
Celviano Grand Hybrid reproduces even subtle nuances of the world’s most respected pianos. Three pianos that originate in Berlin, Hamburg and Vienna were chosen for this project. Casio has painstakingly researched and analyzed the unique characteristics of each piano. Celviano Grand Hybrid delivers brilliant sound of these pianos reproduced with Casio's advanced technology. It will provide the experience of owning three of the finest pianos on earth.
Berlin Grand - A Balanced elegant sound. Ideal for playing impressionistic music. Notable for its clear, ringing tone across the entire range. Hamburg Grand - A brilliant, rich sound. Loved by pianists for its wide range of expression. Well suited for various playing styles and genres. Vienna Grand - Noted for its impressive low range. Great for both soft and vigorous playing with its warm tone. An ideal instrument for music from the classical period.
GP-510 GRAND HYBRID. THE NEW MASTERPIECE
The new GP-510 boasts significant enhancements in all areas, including new piano tones, with greater resolution than previous models for improved clarity and resonance.
The new speaker system delivers greater dynamic force than ever before, capable of stunning contrasts in volume and expression, from the most delicate pianissimo through to the strongest fortissimo.
Combined with the award-winning Natural Grand Hammer Action, the new Grand Hybrid models benefit from a new touch response system and a new pedal design, providing even greater precision than before.
At the heart of the GP-510 is the revolutionary Natural Grand Hammer Action, combining full-length wooden keys (manufactured using the same Austrian spruce as that used by C. Bechstein) with moving hammers to provide an authenticity of touch that is far beyond any other digital piano.
A PIANO IN EVERY SENSE
Think of what made you fall in love when you first saw a piano. Was it the visible moving hammers that captivate an audience, or maybe the opening lid from where the beautiful tone emerges?
Casio Grand Hybrid is the only hybrid digital piano to have these, in a compact and stylish design.
INTELLIGENT DYNAMICS
Further research in collaboration with C. Bechstein has given the new series of Grand Hybrids even greater pianistic realism. The new Grand Speaker System II has all new components and optimises the dynamic range for the chosen volume of the piano.
The new Pedal Simulator provides even greater control over the damper pedal, allowing for a more realistic recreation of an acoustic piano mechanism.
GRAND ACOUSTICS
The new six-speaker Grand Acoustic 2 system delivers the power of an acoustic grand piano, whilst a Headphone Mode optimises the piano tone for silent practice.
USB AUDIO RECORDER
All Grand Hybrids are equipped with USB Audio Record and Playback. This means you can make audio recordings of your performances and play back commercially-available backing tracks via USB memory stick.
5 Year Warranty
All Casio keyboards, digital pianos and synthesizers purchased from an authorised Australian retailer are backed by a 5 year warranty.*

I don't really have much of a basis for comparison. My GP-510 was a replacement for a much cheaper Casio AP-270. I haven't played a mechanical piano for many years, and I've never touched a grand piano.
For this reason, I can't really comment on the GP-510's sounds. For me, the sounds are fine; my playing is the weak link. My initial reaction was that they were slightly muddy, perhaps because the speakers point towards the floor. Using headphones or other output is better; opening the piano's lid helps too (although I don't usually bother).
I suppose there is some action noise but, compared to the AP-270, it's minimal. My wife accused me of 'clattering' when I played the AP-270; I had to schedule my practice sessions for her absences. Now I'm allowed to practice while she's at home.
The keys are slightly shinier (hence more slippery) than I was expecting. That said, I've never found the texture to be a problem.
The key responsiveness (repeat rate) is much faster than that of the AP-270. I can now play trills about as fast as I should.
The keyboard's touch (weight) is slightly heavy for my taste. To some extent, this can be ameliorated by reducing touch sensitivity, but that doesn't reduce the amount of force required. The weight is fine for 'heavy' pieces such as Rachmaninoff; it's more of a challenge with light 'frilly' things like Bach or Mozart.
To my surprise, I found that the long length of the GP-510's key sticks is actually noticeable. I used to have trouble playing chords evenly when they comprised black and white notes because some keys had to be pressed towards the back of the keyboard, with the result that they didn't descend as much for the same amount of force. With the GP-510, the response to force is similar regardless of where the key is pressed.
I haven't had any issues with build quality. I played my AP-270 every day for three years, and it was still in perfect condition. For that reason, I was happy to trust Casio for a much more expensive replacement. The GP-510 gets about an hour a day, including some very ham-fisted Rachmaninoff at fff. It hasn't missed a beat in over a year. I believe that Casio's warranty length exceeds that of most of its competitors as well.
The settings menu is very extensive but can be a bit hard to navigate. In addition, even on the GP-510, some settings are not saved (eg, metronome tempo). This can be a minor nuisance, but workarounds exist.
Even though this is Casio's top-of-the-line piano, it shouldn't be compared with top-of-the-line pianos from the likes of Yamaha and Roland because those are much more expensive. If you do a dollar-for-dollar comparision, you'll find that the GP-510 is hard to beat.
I purchased my toy from bettermusic. The process included some in-store research and assistance from the staff. As usual, bettermusic was fantastic to deal with; I can't imagine ever buying an instrument from anyone else.
