gibson-hummingbird-original-heritage-cherry-sunburst
Gibson Hummingbird Original - Heritage Cherry Sunburst
Introduced in 1960 as Gibson's first square-shoulder acoustic, the instantly recognisable Hummingbird™ has grown into one of the world's most beloved acoustic guitars, favoured by generations of players spanning countless musical styles. The Hummingbird Original combines vintage-inspired design elements with modern Gibson craftsmanship and the Gibson-exclusive, custom-voiced Baggs HiFi DNA™ pickup system, delivering amplified acoustic tone that faithfully reflects the instrument's unique voice and performance subtleties.

Built with a square-shoulder body, the Hummingbird Original pairs a Sitka spruce top with mahogany back and sides. Scalloped X-bracing shapes its dynamic response, while multi-ply binding accents the body. This time-honoured tonewood combination excels whether strumming open-position chords or articulating melodic lead passages. A gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish highlights the guitar's legendary silhouette and unmistakable visual appeal.

The mahogany neck is attached using a compound dovetail neck-to-body joint and carved to a comfortable Rounded profile. A rosewood fretboard with a 12-inch radius, 20 standard frets, and mother-of-pearl parallelogram inlays offers a classic playing experience. Gold Gotoh® keystone tuners, bone nut, traditional Hummingbird truss rod cover, and double antiqued binding reinforce the instrument's vintage character. A traditional belly-up rosewood bridge anchors the strings with a bone saddle and TUSQ® bridge pins. The famous Hummingbird pickguard remains one of the guitar's defining visual elements.

The Baggs HiFi DNA pickup system incorporates two lightweight sensors mounted to the internal bridge plate, paired with individually optimized preamps to produce rich, natural amplified acoustic sound. The system preserves unplugged tonal character while providing exceptional amplified performance and gain-before-feedback comparable to traditional under-saddle pickups. Discreet soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls allow quick adjustments during performance.

Ready for both stage and studio use, it ships in a hardshell case.

Body
Shape: Hummingbird
Back/Sides: Mahogany
Top: Sitka Spruce
Binding: Multi-ply top and back

Neck
Neck Material: Mahogany
Profile: Round
Fingerboard: Rosewood
Scale Length: 628.7 mm
Nut Material: Bone
Inlay: Mother-of-pearl Parallelograms

Hardware
Bridge: Traditionally Belly Up
Tuners: Gotoh Keystone

Electronics
Acoustic Pickup: Baggs HiFi DNA
Controls: 1 Volume, 1 Tone
