In this artwork, “Witchety Grub”, Audrey skilfully created the ideal bush environment with witchety grubs, honey ants, bush flowers, fruits etc. There are a number of different grubs available, depending on where you collect them, i.e. witchety grub from the witchety bush, river red gum grub, Coolibah tree gum, Whitewood tree grub, Ironwood tree grub, Prickly wattle grub and Elephant grub.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe grubs are edible either raw or lightly cooked on hot ashes. They are sought out as a high protein food by Aboriginals. The raw grub tastes like almond or banana.
