Guitar stands

What are the different types of guitar stands?

There are many different types of guitar stands, each with their own advantages and disadvantages. We'll explain each of these types below:

  • A-Frame Guitar Stands: The most common type of guitar stand is the A-frame stand, which is simple and easy to use. These stands provide support for the body of the guitar. There are models that cater specific to electric guitars, and others that cater to acoustic guitars.
  • Tripod Guitar Stands:  Tripod guitar stands have 3 legs, and feature neck and head stock support by providing an area for those components to lean on.
  • Multi Guitar Racks: These stands are perfect if you own several guitars. They provide space for two or more guitars to be placed next to each other in an accessible manner.
  • Wall Hanger Stands: These are excellent space savers if you don’t have room for any of the above guitar stands. Aside from looking great, they’re a great solution for keeping your guitars out of reach from both pets and children.

How do I choose the right guitar stand for my needs?

There is no definitive answer to this question as it depends on a number of factors, including the type of guitar you have, the amount of space you have available, and your personal preferences. However, here are a few things to consider when choosing a guitar stand:

  • The type of guitar you own: Acoustic guitars are typically larger, so you will need to be conscious of where you position it in your space. The weight for acoustic guitars and electric guitars will differ depending on the parts, choice of wood and amount of wood used.
  • The shape of your guitar: Guitars come in many different shapes and sizes. Offset guitars in particular (asymmetrical shaped guitars) are often not properly secured when using an A-frame guitar stand, so a better solution in this instance would be to use either a guitar rack stand, tripod stand, or a wall mount hanger.
  • If choosing a wall hanger, plan for which guitar it will hold: When installing a guitar wall hanger, it is important that you plan what instrument you plan to hang from it, and the weight of it. Guitars like Les Pauls are heavy solid body electrics, so you need to ensure your wall hanger is installed with high quality studs, and then into a sturdy wooden frame or brick.
