Yamaha JR 15"x5"
John "JR" Robinson requested an all birch shell with a large, 15-inch diameter and 5-inch depth. He also asked that it be made thin - four plies thin! A unique request it was, however, the resulting snare was one that delivered a powerful sound with sharp response. Four-ply reinforcements on both edges are utilized to supply the necessary strength while providing a well-centered core to the snare's sound. Adding beauty to the shell's exterior is a polymer layer of White Gold. All maple 19-ply (10 hole) wood hoops to add their rich, warm flavor and powerful rim shots to the drum. |
